In 2017, the best Rugby League players from around the world will be in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, all hoping to be crowned World Cup winners and hold aloft the Paul Barrière Trophy.

Catch Australia vs England in the opening match on Friday 27 October at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium. Get your tickets here.

Stop past Hop Sing Bar & Food for a pre-game meal and drinks and then take a leisurely stroll back through the sporting precinct after the game to stay at Mercure Melbourne Treasury Gardens.

The quarter final will then be held in Melbourne again on Sunday 19 November.

Spring Racing Carnival

October and November are a lively time of year in Melbourne when the Spring Racing Carnival is in full swing!

The first main race of the season is the BMW Caulfield Cup Carnival on Saturday 21 October 2017.

In November, the Melbourne Cup Carnival brings a full 8 days of action in Flemington, with the race that stops the nation right in the middle. Here are the key dates that you must not miss:

Saturday 4 November 2017: AAMI Victoria Derby Day
